The Doctoral Colloquium is a forum in which Ph.D. students can meet and discuss their work with each other and with a panel of experienced researchers and practitioners.

The Doctoral Colloquium will be held all day on November 4, 2007. Participants are expected to stay for the conference, as there will be a poster session on November 5th and a wrap-up session on November 7th.

We welcome applicants from a broad range of disciplines and approaches that inform the Group conference, including CSCW, information technology, information science, HCI, organizational studies, social informatics, sociology, psychology, anthropology, computer science, cognitive science, and related fields. (See the Call for Papers at the conference site for potential topics of interest.) Applicants should be beyond the proposal stage and into their dissertation research. The Colloquium committee will select approximately 12 participants who will be expected to give short, informal presentations of their work during the Colloquium, to be followed by a discussion.

Doctoral Colloquium papers will be published in the ACM digital library and will be circulated to attendees at the conference. Doctoral Colloquium participants must also present a poster of their work during the interactive poster session at the conference.

Applicants selected to participate in the Doctoral Colloquium will be provided complimentary registration, lodging, and a subsistence allowance. Please note we will not be able to support international travel.

Submissions should be no longer than 2 pages, including an abstract of no more than 150 words and a description of the work in progress. Submissions should be formatted according to the ACM SIG Proceedings Template. In addition to this, applicants should send a 2-3 paragraph biographical sketch.

Doctoral colloquium submissions should be e-mailed to the Doctoral Colloquium co-chairs at [email protected]. All submissions must be received by the chairs by midnight Pacific Time on Friday July 13, 2007. Submissions received after this date will not be considered. All submissions will be acknowledged by email.

Submissions must also include a supporting recommendation letter from the student's adviser. The recommendation letter should be emailed separately by the adviser.
